o'clock in the German language."

31 "The double wedding and grand Ball advertised by the Woodmen to
take place in Odd Fellows hall last night, came off according
to the schedule. Promptly at eight o'clock the orchestra
played a march and the two couple walked into the hall which
was crowded with a host of friends. The couples, Mr. Patrick
Hayt, aged 21 and Miss Mamie Walter, 18, were attended by Mr.
and Mrs. James Mills, and Mr. Joe Hayt and Miss Julia Mills
were the groomsman and bridesmaid to Mr. Charley Mayer, 24, and
Miss Sadie Walter, 20. The beautiful ceremony was conducted by
Rev. H. I. Bryant, of the Christian church. After hearty
congratulations were extended and a few friends had taken their
departure from the hall, the Grand March was played and the
dance went merrily on until the 'we sma' hours put an end to
the gaiety and the couples wended their several ways homeward.
The woodmen netted about $40 from the evening's entertainment."

32 "Their grave site is an enchanting place, situated on a
hillside facing a valley, and surrounded by the beautiful
Umpqua Mountains. You can see the cemetery from the freeway.
The town of Wilbur, OR is nestled in the hills behind the
cemetery. It must have been a lovely place in which to live.
The spire marker is dreadfully worn and covered with moss. . .
I could not read the inscriptions. I finally decided it had to
be theirs, because it was the only tombstone there that matched
Alex's description of an obelisk."
Strange, John Anderson (I717)

34 "This is 3 mi. E and 5/8 mi. S of 4th and Broadway in
Pittsburg, KS, along the W side of the road in a grove of
trees, with much underbrush and briars. Strip mining has taken
all the land around it. Most of the graves found were in the
NW part. A number of graves are marked only with a rock or
piece of stone, and it appears that there are many graves
unmarked. ...(wooden frame with wire fence surrounds a grave, a
